Terms of Use

These conditions apply whenever you browse, read, or use a search feature on Mackinac County Criminal History. Continued use means that you accept every term below. If you disagree, do not use the website.

NO FCRA USE. This privately operated website is not affiliated with Mackinac County, the State of Michigan, or any government body. It is not a consumer reporting agency or private investigation firm. Neither the site nor its advertising partners offers a service for credit, employment, tenant, insurance, or any other Fair Credit Reporting Act purpose.

1. What This Website Is

Mackinac County Criminal History is a private reference site with no government role. It does not hold official files, conduct official checks, retrieve records, or submit documents for a user.

Its purpose is to identify the custodians of Mackinac County records, including local police, the Sheriff, the courts, Michigan State Police, Criminal Justice Information Center, and the Michigan Public Sex Offender Registry. Some pages also connect to outside search tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

By using the website, you agree not to:

  • Interfere with access, performance, or another visitor's use
  • Use bots, scrapers, or other automated collection tools
  • Attempt unauthorized access to any account or system
  • Harass, stalk, intimidate, or threaten another person
  • Use site material for a credit, employment, housing, or insurance decision
  • Violate any local, Michigan, or federal law

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

You may not use information from these pages or a linked tool to stalk, threaten, intimidate, harass, or discriminate. Such conduct may also violate criminal law. Michigan Public Sex Offender Registry information exists for community safety and must not be used for harassment or vigilante acts. Michigan's Sex Offenders Registration Act, MCL 28.721 through 28.736, governs that public registry.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

This website is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and does not create consumer reports, credit reports, or official background checks. The same restriction applies to use of material reached through a linked tool. You must not use it to:

  • Evaluate eligibility for credit or insurance
  • Make a hiring or other employment decision
  • Assess a rental or housing application
  • Determine eligibility for a license, benefit, or permit
  • Carry out any other FCRA-regulated decision

A legally permitted screening need must be handled through an authorized Michigan State Police process or a provider that meets all applicable FCRA duties.

5. No Legal Advice

General descriptions of Mackinac County records are not legal advice. Only a licensed Michigan attorney can advise how a charge, conviction, warrant, or conviction set-aside rule affects a specific person.

6. No Warranties

All content and functions are provided "as is" and "as available." No promise is made that:

  • An outside search result will be complete or correctly matched
  • Every page will be free of errors or security flaws
  • The service will always remain available without delay
  • All information will be current, accurate, and complete

Charges, dispositions, restrictions, and set-asides can change the public view of a record. No text here is an official statement from Mackinac County, a court, police agency, or Michigan State Police.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links lead to government offices, courts, legal resources, and outside services that we do not control. Their availability, prices, data practices, content, and accuracy are their responsibility. Review the destination's terms before using it.

8. Intellectual Property

Unless another owner is identified, site text, graphics, logos, and code belong to Mackinac County Criminal History or its content partners. They may not be copied, changed, distributed, or adapted without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the broadest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for loss or damage caused by use of, inability to use, or reliance on this website or any linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold us harmless from claims, demands, costs, and reasonable legal fees arising from your use of the site or violation of these terms.

11. Governing Law

Michigan law governs these terms. Any dispute connected with the website must be brought in a court with proper jurisdiction in the State of Michigan.

12. Changes to These Terms

These conditions may be revised. An updated version becomes effective when it is posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be limited or terminated at any time and without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in force. The affected language will be narrowed only as needed to make it enforceable.
